They Fooled Me! How About You?
Have you been led astray by fake science and misleading media propaganda telling you that you have to eat animal products to get the protein, “good fats,” iron and calcium you need?
I was fooled for decades, even though I read every nutrition book I could get my hands on. Thank goodness nutritional science has evolved a lot since I was a kid!
Fortunately, I finally uncovered the truth about a balanced Whole Food Plant-Based Diet and, lucky for you, I’ve filled the pages of this website with the life-saving, health-affirming information I learned so you don’t have to make the same mistakes I made — and I made quite a few mistakes over the years!
Make the Choice Today to Nourish Your Body while Protecting Animals & Our Planet!
Healthy Vegan Diet Coach Bernadette Wulf
I still remember the day I went vegetarian back in 1970. I bit into a piece of chicken and realized that it was once a living animal, much like my beloved pets. I could never eat meat again!
That started me on a long journey of learning everything I could about nutrition and health — with lots of ups and downs along the way. I tried vegan and near vegan variations with mixed results.
After reading The China Study around 2005, I was convinced that avoiding all animal products was a major key to good health. I had already been vegetarian for decades, so I tried cutting out eggs and dairy. That helped in some ways, but it didn’t improve my Lyme and other autoimmune symptoms.
Next I tried a vegetarian version of the Body Ecology Diet that included eggs from pastured hens (I left out the meat and dairy) and a lot of fats. Big mistake! Unfortunately, my symptoms still persisted and I lost a lot of my glucose reserves on that high-fat-low carb diet. Then I started catching every virus that was going around.
What was I missing?
In 2015 I finally discovered the Medical Medium diet protocols and started following them, which at long last led to big improvements in my health and immunity. While I still remained vegetarian, I eliminated the Medical Medium “NO” foods: eggs, dairy, gluten, corn, soy, canola oil, vinegar and nutritional yeast.
I was amazed that all my Lyme symptoms and the chronic pain in my neck and shoulders disappeared within a few weeks!
I included daily celery juice and the Medical Medium heavy metal detox for a couple of years, but I no longer include celery juice (it didn’t seem to be making a difference for me, but other people have told me it is very helpful for them — we are all different).
Now that I have healed considerably, I occasionally eat organic certified non-GMO corn or soy products, but otherwise I stick to the Medical Medium basic protocols (found in his first book called Medical Medium), since they have worked so well for me.
I’m thinking that eliminating gluten and eggs made the biggest difference, since I had already been avoiding meat, dairy and GMO foods.
I had finally discovered the diet that really works for me — and for millions of other people — a Whole Plant Foods Diet with a Medical Medium twist. Now I want to pass on what I’ve learned to you in hopes that you will feel the wonderful boost in health that I experienced.
Science Didn’t Have All the Answers
My decades of nutrition research gave me the background to recognize how truly unique and important the Medical Medium information was.
He explained so much that medical science has yet to understand (and some that scientists are just beginning to discover). It may just be the life-saving information you need to thrive!
I also love learning about the science of nutrition and I continue to follow the work of brilliant doctors and scientists who ignore main-stream propaganda and get down to the facts — like Dr. Greger of NutritionFacts.org.
I have loaded this website with lots of information and links to other helpful sites. I think it is better than most college courses in nutrition — certainly better than the minimal nutrition courses most doctors get in medical school!
I hope you find everything you are looking for here. However, I know some people will want personal support with their diet and health challenges and I’m here to help!
If you have questions, drop me an email and I will try to get you the information you need. (Please don’t send me arguments for eating animal products. I’ve heard too many to count and none of them are supported by well-designed scientific studies.)
Are You Feeling Tired, Sick or Overweight?
You can transform your health by giving your body the clean nutrients it needs, all of which are found in whole plant foods (except vitamin B12 — DO take it as a supplement).
-
-
- Jumpstart Your Vitality
- Restore Vibrant Health
- Maintain Ideal Weight
- Save Animals
- Protect Our Planet
- Prevent Disease Pandemics
-
All of this and more is possible with a few simple changes in your diet.
Unfortunately, there is a LOT of misinformation about diet in the media, including many outright lies promoted by special interests. Even people who think they are eating the best possible diet end up sick and tired, because they followed some popular fad diet guru and didn’t get the scientific truth about good nutrition that you will find here.
A Junk Food Vegan is Not a Healthy Vegan
It is true that eliminating animal products and replacing them with processed vegan foods will help the planet by reducing the livestock industry (which is one of the biggest polluters of all) and spare animals from the torture of factory farms, but it will NOT be good for your health. Only whole plant foods have all the nutrients you need.
Many new (and some long-time) plant-based eaters or vegans are eating junk food, because they didn’t get the essential information you will find here. Are you one of them?
This question is important for three reasons.
If you eat junk food:
- You could end up getting sick — and maybe even return to eating animal products in the mistaken belief that animal products are necessary for your health. Truth — you can get all the nutrients you need on a diet of whole plant foods and sunshine (unless you have a rare digestive or absorption problem) — except for vitamin B12, which is easily supplied by a good supplement that includes both methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin (I take Vimergy B12 or B12 Blend). You may also need to supplement with Vitamin D3 if you don’t get adequate exposure to the sun.
- When people “give up” on their whole food plant-based diet it hurts all of us. Those people are much more likely to develop heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, cancer, strokes, kidney disease, liver disease and other health problems that put a huge burden on our health care system (which raises health insurance costs for everyone) and causes untold heartache for their loved ones.
- It even affects the quality of our water! Millions of drugs prescribed for all those degenerative diseases are expelled in urine to eventually end up in our drinking water! Ugh!
That is why I don’t want to see you or anyone else eating animal products or processed junk food — vegan or otherwise! I want you to succeed and thrive, for your own health and the sake of our entire planet — now and for future generations.

Don’t Give Up on Your Whole Plant Foods Diet
Starting a new diet is easy. Sticking with it long term can be challenging. I’m here to help you get past the challenges so you can experience the thrill of renewed health and vitality.
There are three main reasons why you might give up on a Whole Plant-Foods Diet:
- You get sick and blame it on lack of animal products (never true unless you have a rare medical condition). The real cause is lack of a variety of fresh whole plant foods, a temporary detox, and/or lack of a couple of important supplements. (Solution: Work with a plant-based diet coach or read through this website and use the information to improve your health, starting today!)
- You don’t like the food. (Solution: find lots of great recipes and learn to cook. Join my facebook group — Whole Foods Plant-Based, Gluten Free Recipes Group)
- You are surrounded by other people who undermine, mock, or question your dietary choices. (Solution: join support groups in person or online, fortify yourself with the scientific facts like the ones you’ll find on this website, find a coach or a WFPB buddy for mutual support)
Addressing Reason # 1 — Sickness
Are you already sick or afraid of getting sick on a vegan diet? This website covers all the information you need to stay healthy on a diet of whole plant foods — including how to regain your health with the Medical Medium protocols if you are already sick.
You may also want to work with a coach or plant-based doctor. So Reason # 1 is no excuse to start eating junk food or animal products that will only make you sicker.
Addressing Reason # 2 — Taste
This reason can be a little more challenging. Food has to taste good or you won’t want to keep eating it!
Even though I was a professional vegetarian cook for 10 years, I still had to go through a big learning curve when I started cooking totally plant-based meals — but I so am glad I did. I experimented with lots of new recipes and found new ways to cook without cheese, eggs, gluten, oil, soy, corn, vinegar or yeast. Now I can use all my years of cooking experience to help you find healthy foods you like.
Just remember, it can take several weeks or even months for your tastes to adapt to a new diet, especially when you cut way back on fats, salt, and sugar. Stick with it and you will find that whole foods start tasting better and better over time.
Fortunately there are lots of healthy plant substitutes for most of our familiar animal products, so you can still enjoy your favorite dishes, with a little adaptation. These transition foods can make it a lot easier to shift to a healthy diet.
Give it time. Keep it simple. It will get easier!
Just start with a few recipes that even your meat-eater friends will like. You can gradually win them over by introducing delicious plant foods — or at least you’ll be able to share some meals with them.
Think ethnic! Most ethnic cuisines offer many vegan or nearly-vegan dishes that your omnivore friends and family may already love.
Collect Whole Food Plant-Based Diet Recipes
I started a popular Facebook group that now has over 10,000 people. We’ve shared hundreds of yummy WFPB, gluten free, and Medical Medium compatible recipes. Please join us if you are looking for cooking inspiration and the support of a friendly group: Whole Food Plant-Based, Gluten Free Recipes Group
Addressing Reason #3 — Other People
This may be the most challenging reason of all. We are social beings and the people around us have a strong influence on us. That’s why it is so important to fortify yourself with reliable information like you will find on this website.
For your science-oriented critics, share videos, books and blog posts from Dr. Greger at NutritionFacts.org, and other sources recommended below. They may provide enough scientific proof to keep people from hounding you — or lend them a copy of Dr. Greger’s excellent book How Not to Die.
Also, videos like Game Changers, What the Health, and Forks Over Knives are excellent sources of information you can share (on Netflix last I checked).
It is also important to connect with other people who support your choices, even if it is only in an online group. Reach out for help if you feel overwhelmed or confused. There are lots of helpful, supportive people out there.
If you are going out to a restaurant, call ahead to make sure they can provide you with a dish that fits your diet, or eat something before you go and just order a salad with lemon and avocado as a dressing (or bring your own dressing). You can do this!
Science Supports a Whole Plant Food Diet Hands Down!
Numerous scientific studies show that a whole plant foods (vegan) diet may be the most important key to safeguarding your health and preventing, and often even reversing, chronic disease.
A healthy vegan diet also prevents animal suffering, environmental destruction, and the spread of epidemic diseases.
Although study results are clear and easily available, few people — including doctors — are aware of the facts. You will find plenty of scientific evidence to back up your choice to eat a plant-based diet in the videos, articles, and blog posts linked here:

- Dr. Michael Greger’s website – NutritionFacts.org. He and his team review every scientific study on health and diet in the English language and he shares the results in short video clips and blog posts, free of charge as a public service.

There are many other plant based doctors out there who have shown excellent results in their clinics. The ones listed here share the most scientific information I’ve found.
On the other end of the spectrum is the Medical Medium who gets his information from a being he calls the Spirit of Compassion. His protocols align perfectly with the best of science and many medical doctors rely on him to help heal their most challenging cases. I like to consider both types of information.
I hope this website will help you stick with a whole plant foods diet for your own health, for the wellbeing of countless animals and the future of our planet.
